Performers and Instructors

Jamimah

Upon my return after spending 7 years in England, where I was introduced to Salsa, I met Andi in Budapest who discovered something unique in my salsa dancing: intuition and spontaneity coupled with the harmony of movements. Since then I have been working closely with her both in instructing and performing. Now both of us are working under the umbrella of  O’Yemaya Salsa Fusion to provide quality and new colours in the salsa life of Budapest.

She is presently one of the best belly dance performers in Hungary with probably the biggest experience one can have including international. She is the head teacher and instructor of the Oriental Dance Academy in Budapest. Apart from belly dancing, she is well versed in salsa following in Andi’s steps and using her method. Her stage experience comes from Austria and Canada whereas the knowledge from renown international belly dance instructors. She is one of the strongest pillars of the O’yemaya Salsa Dance Team.

My life has been in a perpetual change... After 3 years of devoting all my  spare time to latin dances I felt that a part of me is dieing when I stopped. However, in each death there is the seed of a new beginning, so I got involved with tai chi, a very comprehensive type of exercising rooted in Chinese martial arts with a sound philosophy. It has made a remarkable impact on my life. I met Andi in 2004 and started learning salsa: getting involved all the more deeper I do believe it makes people happier. In my case the combination of water (tai chi) and fire (salsa) has impacted on my personality in a positive manner and I am grateful for the opportunity to have become member of the O’Yemaya Fusion Salsa Team.

It all started in 2005 when my first salsa teacher told us that we will experience not only the first steps of a dance but it may well trigger substantial changes in our lives. I did not really believe him but then I have become the best example of his theory. Not only my body has changed but rather my soul. Music and dance are proven ways to help access our subconscious, our soul and the universe... They show us an easy way to find  and understand ourselves and, how to create harmony between our inner and outer worlds. Salsa is not only a dance it is rather an attitude towards life and, this is what Andi has taught me.
